This website is for students who are in Mathematics II and Mathematics III with Ms. Corrales during the 2017 - 2018 school year.
Mathematics II
Mathematics II includes standards from the conceptual categories of Number and Quantity, Algebra, Functions, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Mathematics II focuses on five critical areas: (1) extend the laws of exponents to rational exponents; (2) compare key characteristics of quadratic functions with those of linear and exponential functions; (3) create and solve equations and inequalities involving linear, exponential, and quadratic expressions; (4) extend work with probability; and (5) establish criteria for similarity of triangles based on dilations and proportional reasoning. The scope of Mathematics II is limited to quadratic expressions and functions, and some work with absolute value, step, and functions that are piecewise-defined. |
Mathematics III
Mathematics III includes standards from the conceptual categories of Number and Quantity, Algebra, Functions, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Mathematics III focuses on four critical areas: (1) apply methods from probability and statistics to draw inferences and conclusions from data; (2) expand understanding of functions to include polynomial, rational, and radical functions; (3) expand right triangle trigonometry to include general triangles; and (4) consolidate functions and geometry to create models and solve contextual problems. |
Extra Support Outside of Class
Students can come in at lunch on Tuesday and/or Thursday to receive extra help if needed. This is the time when students will be able to receive extra help outside of class time. Students who have questions on problems from the homework worksheets should utilize this time since class time will be spent on new concepts and section activities.
Classroom Wish List
Donations of the following items would be greatly appreciated and will be used by the students throughout the year.
* Graph paper
* College rule paper
* White copy paper
* Color copy paper
* AAA batteries
* Boxes of tissue
* Pencils
* Dry erase makers and erasers
* Staples
* Index Cards
*Glue Sticks
Parent/Student Portal
Parents and students are encouraged to use the Parent/Student Portal to stay up to date on grades. Grades will be updated once a week as assignments permit. Please remember that homework is entered about a week after the chapter test. Homework charts are collected on the day of the chapter test and are to be signed by a parent/guardian. Occassionally, mistakes may be made when entering a grade. If a mistake is made, the student should bring me the assignment with the correct grade on it.
